"Save"
Our society is walking into a world of doom. Correction, we are currently residing in a
world of doom. This world is full of people who don’t understand how it
works. And what happens when you put a
bunch of these people in a complicated environment that they can ruin in an
instant? Nothing good.
You act like you want to save the world, so you purchase a solar
powered or electric car; the car is great, there are no fumes coming out of the back of it,
and you aren’t wasting an excess amount of gasoline. Yet, you don’t realize that
a factory was built elsewhere in the world and it spews toxic fumes out into our
atmosphere. That same factory has disrupted an ecosystem, not just the trees
and animals it displaced, but the every living and nonliving thing within a 2
mile radius. That same factory needs to transport its products with the use of
fume spewing trucks, and not to mention the road that was probably constructed
for easy transport has destroyed the ecosystems that it slices through. Yes,
all of this for just one car. But this doesn’t matter to you, because in your
tiny bubble you have saved the planet, and you preach about your efforts just
as you throw a plastic bottle into the garbage. This ignorance is the cause of the world's diminishing condition.
As said in “Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp,” “Wild things
exist only if you have the graciousness to allow them to.” But when graciousness
is mixed with ignorance, it is just as destructive as not caring at all. So
what’s the point if you try to "save" the polar bears, you’re killing all the
fish.

I like how you exposed the sheer ignorance of mankind when it comes to saving the ecosystems we live in. I definitely agree with your point that it may seem like we're doing something to help but in reality it takes the power of the world as a whole. Nice work!
ReplyDelete"You preach about your efforts just as you throw a plastic bottle into the garbage." I love that line so much. This is really well done! I love how you explained every step of the car manufacturing process and how it hurts the environment. Well done!
